Mabel grew up in the town of Brightvale. She had excellent grades and excelled in history. She applied several times for Brightvale Academy. The first few times she wasn't accepted. Then finally, she was. It was her dream to go to Brightvale and she was so happy. But, she found out she was pregnant a few days later. While Brightvale has systems in place to support young parents who attend the school, students at Brightvale still have to live in the dorms and follow the rules. Because her boyfriend was not, and would never be, a student at Brightvale that meant that should she go to Brightvale Academy, one of them would only be allowed to see their child on the weekends. She didn't want that, so she declined her acceptance.
She married her boyfriend, they moved into a nice house in town, and they had several kids together. Eventually she got a teaching job at Brightvale. Her husband and her were happy together for a while... but now he's been promoted at work, he's hardly home, and when he is home he's never happy to see her. She doesn't want her kids to have to deal with a divorce, but if it weren't for them that's where her marriage would be headed. So in order to keep her mind off these things she throws herself into her work and into being much too involved in her kids lives.

Mabel is trying really hard not to think about her marriage situation. So instead she focuses on her students and her kids. She has a tendency to be a bit scatterbrained, and is prone to dramatics and over reacting. She's very involved in the lives of her children, some would say over involved. She can be forgetful and clumsy.
